A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING MRS. OSIE ROBERTS LEE ON THE CELEBRATION OF HER 100TH BIRTHDAY.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Osie Roberts Lee, a resident of Meridian, Mississippi, will celebrate her 100th birthday on February 16, 1999; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Lee, born on February 16, 1899, in Artesia, Mississippi, is the daughter of Jonas and Angela Roberts; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Lee is an active member of First Union Baptist Church in Meridian, Mississippi, where she has served as a former President of the Missionary Society and a former Sunday School teacher; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Lee has also been active in her community as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and former Matron of the Heriones of Jericho; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Lee was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Mr. Oscar Lee, Sr., and was blessed with two children, seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, the Legislature finds it most appropriate to recognize and pay special tribute to outstanding citizens such as Mrs. Osie Roberts Lee, a self-dependent person who enjoys staying active in her church and community and working in her garden:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby congratulate Mrs. Osie Roberts Lee on the celebration of her 100th birthday on February 16, 1999.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Osie Roberts Lee and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
